Your 14 Day Comedy Challenge

Let it out....

Let it out....

One of my absolute favorite things to do in life – every day – is have a good laugh.

Whether it’s something I hear or see in the media, something a friend says, something silly I do, or simply wondering what my dog is thinking (he’s genius by the way), I have developed a keen sense of humor.

I used to think that having a sense of humor meant that one was funny. But, the more time passes, and the more value I have in laughter, the more I understand that you can actually create an environment for humor to find you.

So if you’re feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or just a little flat, here are some of my regular go-tos to keep your humor-muscle finely toned.

STAND UP COMEDIANS
Whether watching online, a dvd or going to a live show, there are few things that I enjoy more than a great comic.

A fantastic all around comedian with a PG rating is Jim Gaffigan. Equally, if not even funnier – but significantly racier — is Bill Burr’s earlier work, specifically the dvd “Let It Go.” I’d rate it R. I’m also a fan of Craig Shoemaker who has bust my gut every time I’ve seen him.

All are brilliant and guaranteed to make you truly Laugh Out Loud! Be sure to check out your local comedy club, and start discovering what comedy style you enjoy.

YOU TUBE VIDEO and CLIPS
Search YouTube.com for funny videos in the category that appeals to you… funny baby videos, funny animal (dog, cat, horse, duck) videos, funny movie clips…

COMEDY FILMS
If funny movie clips aren’t enough, be sure to have an arsenal of funny movies at your fingertips.

A few of my all time favorites are: Arthur (the original with Dudley Moore), The Jerk, Caddyshack, A Fish Called Wanda, Big, Wedding Crashers, The Hangover, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, 40 Year Old Virgin and Due Date.

There are dozens more, of course. A great place to start if you’re out of ideas is International Movie Data Base Top 100 and the American Film Institute has an excellent 100 Laughs List that is top-notch.

MY CHALLENGE TO YOU: I suggest doing at least one thing a day — every day for 14 days — to invite laughter into your life.

Whether it’s 5 minutes on YouTube, watching a funny movie with your honey, or listening to a comedian while you’re getting ready for work or bed…

The fantastic thing about infusing your life with humor is that it primes you to notice it all around, and in turn you’ll be happier and fast discover all the joy that abounds.

I look forward to hearing what your favorite comedy picks are.

Be sure to do the comedy challenge for 14 days and let me know if you’re smiling more and laughing often.

In the meantime, have a beautiful day and remember I am most definitely in your corner…

Love,
Thais
