There came a time when pulling myself up by my boot­straps no longer had any effect. Bit by bit, the veil of self-will was finally and mer­ci­fully lifted. However, see­ing myself from the outside-in, was excru­ci­at­ing! I was hor­ri­fied to dis­cover that I never had been truly happy.

If I was treated in a way that pleased me, and things were going as I believed they should, it was easy for me to embrace my belief that kind­ness is to be val­ued above all things. However, when things weren’t going my way, or, I per­ceived that some­one had been unkind or unfair to me, I would unleash a sense of enti­tle­ment that illus­trated itself in var­i­ous forms of dis­ap­point­ment, resent­ment and some­times anger.

I was for­tu­nate that when these painful truths were revealed, my life changed on the spot. I knew that I never again wanted to make someone’s day more dif­fi­cult than it might already be. And, in fact, I became gen­uinely con­cerned in the care and con­sid­er­a­tion given oth­ers. Not the head knowl­edge that I had car­ried for years that was eas­ily dis­carded when I felt jus­ti­fied, but the soul­ful know­ing that my life would never be the same.

What has fol­lowed is hap­pi­ness inde­pen­dent of cir­cum­stance, and I call it JOY! I believe joy is in all of us to be dis­cov­ered, and can be brought to life in small and large, prac­ti­cal and friv­o­lous ways…and while not always easy, I find it fan­tas­ti­cally sim­ple. And for this, I am for­ever grateful.

From this grat­i­tude the Lucky Duck Living brand was born. Good feel­ings equals good cloth­ing. We com­bine; Wit, Style, Animals, Community, Contribution and Comfort into one super fan­tas­tic, made in the USA, organic tee!…
